OVERTON BEACH
SERVICES REMAIN CLOSED...!!

The lake level is dry all across
the Overton Beach Marina bay. This photo shows only water
flowing slowly from the Muddy & Virgin Rivers into Lake Mead
which is now just North of Ann Margaret Beach, North of
Stewart's Point. There are no current plans by the National Park
Service to re-open this Marina. The Gate is closed and no
longer allows access to the Marina property at all.

~ Good News
& Updates ~
New pavement and bridges have been
completed from Roger's Springs (just south of Stewart's Point)
to South of Echo Bay and are now open for good travel.
Be aware that North
Shore Road remains under construction in areas between Roger's
Springs to just North
of Overton Beach.
Expect
short delays for a few more
months during the road construction process.
Use caution and slow down when driving North Shore Road.

Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge Update

(Photo taken 6/12/2010)
Progress on the
Bypass Bridge for Hoover Dam continues with completion of
the approaching highway roads from Arizona and Nevada and on
the side supports for the actual Bypass Bridge. The support
arch beneath the bridge is also now finished. The
support cables have been removed and additional columns
built on the arch to support the road which will
cross above the arch connecting both sides of the canyon.
There is a completion date for the bridge expected in late 2010.

Echo Bay Launch Update

Echo Bay Marina is open with fair launching conditions and 3 lanes
open and available.
Use caution as some areas near the shore line and launch ramp are
still very shallow.
Recently under new ownership of Forever Resorts, Echo Bay Resort &
Marina is being renovated, the Marina has been moved permanently
to deeper water and upgrades to the property continue.
****************************************

Calville Bay Marina is open with great full
services available and a NEW Launch Ramp. It's a great place to camp or launch
your vessel into the Boulder Basin side of Lake Mead.
Both
Calville Bay and Temple Bar Marinas run a shuttle service on
weekends from the store to the lake side Marina for your
convenience.
****************************************
Hemmingway Harbor & Lake Mead Marina are
now accessible from the same road located just inside the
National Park near Boulder City & Hoover Dam. Both Marinas
have good launching and full services available.

Reminder: All children under age 12 are required by
law to wear a Coast Guard approved life vest while
riding in any size boat on Lake Mead. All
persons who operate vessels powered by a motor over 15hp
on Lake Mead and who were born on or after January 1,
1983, must possess a Certificate of Completion of a
Boater Education course that is approved by the Nevada
Department of Wildlife. A person operating a
personal watercraft (PWC) must be at least 14 years of
age, whether towing anyone or not. A person age
12-13, if holding this Certificate, can operate a non
PWC vessel when accompanied by an adult age 21 or older
who is in a position to supervise the minor operator,
but the minor may NOT tow any skiers, wake-boarders,
surfboarders or other device(s), even if an adult is on
board.

Education Certificates can be completed on line at:

Echo Bay,
Temple Bar, Calville Bay, Lake Mead (now Boulder Marina) & Hemmingway
Harbor Marinas are all open and have good launch
conditions. All Lake Mead Marina Concessionaires
are doing a great job of maintaining launch ramps in
spite of fluctuating water levels. Come see what
Lake Mead has to offer. Some lake area depths are
still over 300 feet deep providing deep, clean clear
water, great for boating, fishing, skiing, wakeboarding
or just relaxing on the water. Come join us at
Lake Mead for a really great summer of fun & sun.
-
Fuel, ice, and other supplies on the
Overton arm of Lake Mead can be purchased
in the towns of Logandale & Overton or at Echo Bay Marina.
All services at Echo Bay
Marina are open so plan to drive on the North
Shore Lake Road and continue to enjoy all that Lake Mead
National Recreation Area still has to offer. Use
caution driving North Shore Road as there are rough road
conditions during construction.
